AMERICAN OPENS NEW JFK FLAGSHIP LOUNGE – QANTAS GOLD GETS ACCESS

American began renovations to its Flagship Lounges and announced its plan for Flagship First Dining last year as part of a $200 million investment in the luxury travel experience.

Today – the new JFK Flagship Lounge and brand new Flagship First Dining were unveiled.

In addition to the JFK lounge opening today, new or renovated Flagship Lounges are planned for:

  • Chicago O’Hare (ORD) (new location within ORD)
  • Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) (new)
  • Los Angeles (LAX)
  • London Heathrow (LHR)
  • Miami (MIA) (new)
  • Philadelphia (PHL) (new)

American is expanding access for Flagship Lounges to include Business Class customers traveling on qualifying international and transcontinental flights, in addition to First Class customers on those flights who previously had access.

Qantas Gold frequent flyers will now have access to the new Flagship Lounges, whereas previously only Qantas Platinum passengers were allowed in. Gold flyers will enjoy the significant upgrade from American’s regular Admirals Club lounge.

But the new more-generous access rules only apply in the renovated Flagship Lounges.

With JFK opening this week, Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami are expected to open later in 2017.

Philadelphia, Dallas and London are planned for 2018.

Until then – the old lounges will still be restricted to Oneworld Emerald and international/transcontinental first class passengers.

The renovated and larger Flagship Lounge at JFK allows those customers to unwind, work or refresh before their flight with quiet rooms, individual work pods and showers.

Customers will enjoy a range of food options including a robust hot and cold food buffet, an a la carte dining menu and a chef’s table with a rotating menu of made-to-order entrees.

Now we’re thrilled to unveil our remodeled Flagship Lounges and to be the first U.S. airline to offer top-of-the-line dining in the airport. We are proud of our Flagship experience and we hope our customers will agree it’s the best product out there.”
