It’s a huge week at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this week with terminal changes, lounge openings, and a swish new VIP terminal opening today as well.

The Flight Doc is on the ground at LAX covering all the changes, and I’ll be bringing it to you this week on the blog, the newsletter, and on my Facebook page.

One of the most-salivating developments at LAX is The Private Suite – an exclusive VIP terminal that opened today on the south side of the LAX airport complex – away from the chaotic and traffic-jammed central terminal area.

The Private Suite boasts that it only takes an average of 70 peaceful footsteps from the seat of your car to the seat of your plane.

For the rest of us – it will take around 2200 footsteps.

This is how The Private Suite describes the experience…

“The Private Suite is a newly-built private terminal — a new gate into LAX that’s far from the traffic surrounding the airport.

Members of The Private Suite don’t wait in crowded lines because private TSA screening is done right in our building. Members don’t walk down long crowded concourses, or line up at ticket counters and boarding gates. They don’t deal with baggage.

And they don’t deal with paparazzi.”

Members enter The Private Suite through a private security gate off Imperial Highway, before being escorted to their private suite.

Members spend their pre-flight time in totally private suites, each with its own bathroom, its own food-service pantry, a two-person daybed, and a runway view of aircraft landing and taking off.

The suites have plenty of food and drink items to keep you satisfied as well as conveniences such as headsets and phone chargers.

The Private Suite is modeled on London Heathrow’s Windsor Suite, but takes privacy and luxury to a new level.

Each suite can accommodate up to four guests, and for members, there is no additional charge whether you are by yourself, or a family or group of 4.

If you would like to receive a massage or manicure whilst waiting for your flight? No problem – The Private Suite will take care of this.

Need a jacket because it’s cold and rainy in your destination – help yourself.

Spill some wine on your designer outfit – pick up the handset and in a few minutes your valet will have a change of wardrobe sorted out for you.

And if you hate TSA lines – don’t worry – TSA officers will come over from the main terminal to provide private screening within The Private Suite facilities.

When it’s time to board, Private Suite members are driven across the tarmac, Head-of-State style, directly to their aircraft.

Don’t worry about your luggage, as a dedicated valet takes care of the logistics and hassle for you.

In fact, you’ll have a team of 8 staff assigned to you for your visit.

And of course – everything works in reverse when you arrive into LAX.

Including your own private customs and immigration screening.

And if you have to ask the price… well the good thing is that the price is published…

Membership will set you back $7500 per year, which gets you discount pricing, and will also extend to future Private Suite opportunities in Los Angeles including exclusive private shopping experiences which are planned.
