LOUNGE ACCESS FOR VIRGIN AUSTRALIA AT LAX
I hope you enjoyed my review of the Etihad Lounge at Los Angeles, which is accessible to Virgin Australia passengers flying in The Business to Australia.
But if you are a Gold or Platinum Velocity Frequent Flyer, your designated lounge is the Emirates Lounge.
And just to confuse you even further… if you are currently flying to Brisbane on the Saturday VA6 service, you don’t have lounge access. Instead, Virgin will provide a terminal voucher and 10,000 points to Gold and Platinum passengers.
Although Virgin has told The Flight Doc that new lounge arrangements for the Saturday Brisbane flight should be announced soon.
A Virgin Australia spokesperson confirmed these details to The Flight Doc:
For members flying on VA2 (LAX-SYD), VA8 (LAX-BNE except Saturday morning) and VA24 (LAX-MEL):
Platinum and Gold members use the Emirates (EK) Lounge.
- All other Business class guests use the Etihad (EY) Lounge.
- Pre-departure emails are sent to members with this detail supplied, along with terminal information given the large terminal move that took place in LAX on 12 May.
For members flying on VA6 (LAX-BNE) on Saturday morning:
Platinum, Gold and other Business cabin guests travelling on the VA6 currently do not have access to a lounge.
- Platinum and Gold members are being offered compensation of 10,000 Velocity points post departure.
- The challenge with this flight is that it departs LAX at 11.15am and few lounges in Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) are open at that time. VA have been working on resolving this, should be solved shortly.
